As you read this brief article please realize the importance of our coming together as a church family for fellowship, worship and sharing God’s Word. There are many ways that a “church service” can be conducted but these are the essential ingredients. When accompanied by the presence of the Holy Spirit our lives are transformed, slowly but consistently changed into the image of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit’s work in our lives is to produce Christ-likeness, making us more like Jesus.
Often we take our church attendance for granted; it becomes one of those things that is on our “to do lists” and if it gets done, great, and if not it is no big deal. The writer of the New Testament book of Hebrews writes that we should not “…neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near” (Hebrews 10:25 NLT.)
We need one another and we need to be faithful in coming together for worship, fellowship and to share God’s Word with one another, and we need it more than ever as we approach the Lord’s return and the decline of morality in our world. Rather than beating one another for what isn’t being done, we need to encourage one another in what we are to do; so who do you see that needs to be encouraged? Or who do you miss seeing that may need an encouraging word?
I am thankful for the opportunity to worship Jesus with you and that we can encourage one another as we serve Jesus and love our world!
