Happy Father’s Day to all the dad’s today!
One of my greatest joys is being a father and a grandfather. I have had lots of titles and roles through my years, but the most fulfilling has been that of a dad. I vividly remember both days that Shari told me she was pregnant and even more vivid is the memory of the doctor handing me the precious little ones that were my sons. Being a parent has many challenges and I sure made my share of mistakes, but I wouldn’t trade the joy of being a father for anything.
Today as we celebrate the father’s in our lives, I realize that for some it is a day of struggle because of hurts or disappointments from the “fathers” that should have been a part of our lives. Or maybe it is a difficult day because you have lost your father, or their is a longing in your heart to be that father and for whatever reason you haven’t realized that dream. Understand this, we have the ultimate father in our Heavenly Father. He is the father that never lets us down or hurts us.
If you are a man, you have the potential to be “father” to others in your life. You have the opportunity to be an example and a role model to those that God has placed in your sphere of influence; a model of godliness, of compassion, grace, mercy, steadfastness and so much more, because of God’s Spirit in you.
You have been blessed to be a blessing!
